| Resolute Music / Music Blog | | | RES 003: BHX - BLACK GOLD / TEKNIK - OLD HAUNT |

""Yikes. With all the force of a crazed
Jack Nicholson in The Shining, Birmingham-repping newcomer BHX smashes down the
door to instant d&b limelight with the extraordinary super-stepper ‘Black
Gold’. A remarkable distillation of classic elements, these pummelling, snaking
bass nodes, texture-heavy breaks and corkscrewing midranges will be receiving
serious dancefloor pressure for a serious while to come. New Zealand’s Teknik
graces the flip with ‘Old Haunt’: a low-slung, dirty-funking jungle roller
which holds its own quite magnificently in the face of some distinctly
murderous competition. Killer, indeed."

"Squire’s Resolute imprint rolls up with a couple of disgustingly good low-end rollers
for its third release. Birmingham’s BHX has been in the D&B game since this
reviewer was just a little kid, and he flexes the musical maturity of his years
on ‘Black Gold’; a twisted, pummelling rhythm beneath a treacle-thick sea of
vibes. ‘Old Haunt’ from New Zealand’s Teknik is yet another example of the warm
minimalism that the kiwis seem to do so well. Unashamedly harking back to the
golden age of Virus and techstep, yet thoroughly modern in every sense, this is
a very impressive track from a producer who, like BHX, we’d definitely like to
hear more from."

| | 2009-09-25 20:32:40 | | | RES 002: NOAH D feat. FOCUS - WATER SONG / NOAH D - FIRE SONG |
"This heavy track will grind you into the floor" - 5/5 Recommended (IDJ Magazine) "The long-awaited 002 for Resolute plunges deep into the trenches, showing the flipside of rising star Noah D's production prowess. Noah aligns with Focus for the heavy half-time subwoofer workout that is 'Water Song'. The surprising thing about this is that the actual drums in this don't knock, nor do they need to - they recreate the sound of water dripping on your window pane, and that fuzzy bassline is the thunder cutting through the dark clouds at night. Really awesome stuff. On the flipside, Noah D turns the heat all the way up with 'Fire Song', playing the perfect contrast to ''Water Song''. While this track still maintains that gutter half-time flex, the bassline is sharper here, hanging around, making sure it scorches you before it moves to the next victim. It's hypnotic in its aggressiveness, but the fact that it's not all hectic drums adds to the sinister appeal of this one. Superb 12'' from a producer who is well on his way to the forefront. "This label promises big things and the first 12" certainly delivers... A great start to a promising new label." - Knowledge Magazine
With their debut album 'Black Lotus' (Citrus Recordings) still hot on the shelves, Hungarian wonder kids Mindscape continue to raise the temperature with 'Heatstroke' manifested in collaboration with Australian DJ/producer Safire (Broken Beat Assault) in the smoldering heat of the Byron Bay sun; backed with brand new cut 'Malfunction' recorded at studio Mindscape back in Budapest, Hungary.
